Each Lodge is an independent entity and develops its own strategy and tactics for executing the goals and objectives of the organization as the Lodge members deem fit.  Thus, if a Lodge plans and conducts an act that may potentially be subject to civil or criminal penalty, the National HQ, other Lodges, and Societies, bear no responsibility or liability for those actions, only the Lodge members are liable. That is not to say that if a Lodge(s) receive an indictment, civil complaint, petition or are sued, other NSL Lodges may attempt to provide such assistance as is possible, for example, seeking or providing funding for legal defense.
